A Little C-P and R

Thanks to an AgStar grant, this year’s Red Rock Central sophomores will have the chance to become trained in CPR and first aid. One of Red Rock’s school board members works closely with AgStar and recommended this program for our school. The RRC principal, Mr. Goetstouwers, along with one of the physical education/health teachers, Mr. Bartholomaus, filled out an application to explain the use of the grant, which was accepted and a sum of  $2,200 was given to the school.

AgStar Financial Services is a cooperative, owned by client-stockholders. AgStar provides a broad range of financial services and business tools for agricultural and rural clients in Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, focusing on simple, practical solutions that meet the clients’ needs. The AgStar Fund for Rural America was created to extend  the organization’s commitment to the agricultural community. This special program underscores their dedication to agriculture and rural communities, and addresses the issues facing rural America. AgStar concentrates their giving programs in geographic areas where AgStar has a significant business presence and on those programs that fit strategically with the intent of their clients and the communities in which they live. AgStar also funds emergency response equipment for fire, rescue or ambulance departments. This special grant program has helped Red Rock Central obtain CPR/first aid  teaching equipment for students in the school.

This year’s sophomore class will be participating in the CPR/first Aid training, which will be starting sometime in January and taught by Mr. Bartholomaus. This program will give the students hands-on learning that will benefit all in the class. After completion of the course students will receive a certification card. The intention is to offer this training every year to high school students and, eventually, Red Rock Central hopes to train another person to teach classes in the surrounding community. Red Rock Central is thankful to AgStar and hopes this program will benefit students and people all over the community.
