It is
a little late for the golf season, but there was some news that did not get
covered being as school was out. The Red Rock Central Boys golf team got
Academic All-State last season and two of last year’s seniors received
individual Academic All-State.
Last
golf season the Red Rock Central boys golf team won the Academic All-State
award. This award is handed out by the Minnesota High School League Golf
Coachs Association. The coaches take the top six GPA averages in grades nine through
twelve on the team. Only the top four are needed, but the two extra are
required for ties. This year, the contributors to the award were Zach
Valentin, Skyler Vold, Casey Engen, Carter Engen, Jordan Smith, and Mark
Busswitz. There are eight teams per class that can receive this award and
one from each section. Red Rock Central was the representative school
from section 3A.
Along
with the team Academic All-State Award, Red Rock
Central had two individuals that received Individual Academic All-State. To
qualify for Individual Academic All-State the person must be a senior with a
GPA of 3.7+. Red Rock Central graduated seniors Zach Valentin and Skyler Vold
were the recipients of this award.
Congratulations
to the Red Rock Central Boys Golf Team of 2012 on your Academic All-State Award
and to Zach and Skyler on their individual award!
