Who’s Got Spirit?

Red Rock Central sure does! “Red Rock. Central. Falcons. Let’s fight!” Cheering on the Falcons this past Friday was exciting for all. For both teachers and students, Spirit Day is the best day of the Homecoming week.  There were many activities throughout the day for everyone to participate in resulting in smiles everywhere in the school. The activities included the parade through Lamberton and games for the Red Rock students. That evening the Falcons faced Buffalo Lake-Hector on the field for RRC’s Homecoming game and after the victory the Red Rock Students celebrated by capping off the week at the Homecoming dance.

Spirit Day started on a good note with everyone proudly dressing in the Falcons’ colors of red, black, and silver. Homecoming is an opportunity for our community and schools to showcase their pride. This is why it is important to invite the entire school district and community to join us in participating in the day's activities. The lucky students of Red Rock only had a couple hours of class on Friday, getting out at 11:30 to work on their floats for the Homecoming parade. Every class in for middle and high school had a float in the parade. The parade was led by the Lamberton police chief followed by the royal court, band marching, football team, and Sanborn Watermelon Day’s Queen and Princess, Lamberton Leprechauns 4-H club, and the Lamberton fire department.  For the elementary it was their second year to come up for the day to watch the parade, catch candy, and play tug-of-war. Other activities took place after the parade in the gym. The elementary and middle school played some fierce tug of war, high school participated in some volleyball with the seniors winning! An exciting match between high school and elementary teachers resulted in a victory for the elementary.

Spirit Day is the day when everyone in the school comes together and shows true pride for their school. Even though Friday night was very cold, the stands were packed on the Red Rock Central side with people watching the game. Friday night was parent’s night along with homecoming. Parents were proud to show their pride in their sons and RRC activities. The boys’ astounding victory over Buffalo Lake-Hector made everyone proud of Red Rock with their 42-0 score. Congratulations coaches and players!

Following the game was the Homecoming dance for grades seven to twelve in the gym. The dance started at around nine and went until 12:30.  The DJs were great and students even got to play a long game of musical chairs. Homecoming week was exciting for everyone and students from Red Rock Central think this is the best day of the week. Missed this year? Be sure to join Red Rock next year in their Homecoming! “Here we go Falcons, here we go!”
