This is located 20 miles from Walnut Grove.
It is on the Laura Ingalls Historic Highway,
1 mile east, ¼ mile south of Junction of Highway 71 & 14.
There are two full-sized houses furnished like the 1880’s
surrounded by prairie grasses and wildflowers.

Stan McCone built these sod replicas in 1987-1988 as a personal tribute to the homesteaders who came to this treeless prairie. Stan and his family presently live on the farmsite where the sod houses are standing.
